Zyxel Communications has added two new Wave 2 access points to its portfolio of enterprise-class networking infrastructure solutions.
The secure broadband networking provider believes its NWA5123-AC HD 802.11ac Wave 2 Dual-Radio Unified Access Point and NWA1123-AC HD 802.11ac Wave 2 Standalone Access Point solutions are ideal for high-density environments such as hotels and university campuses.
Both products are Wave 2 dual-radio 3x3 MU-MIMO access points which offer a combined data rate of up to 1.6Gbps.
Each solution uses pioneering beamforming technology and advanced noise suppression.
These enable the access points to deliver faster and more reliable connections, which in turn maximises the performance of network-connected applications on every client device.
Shawn Rogers, marketing development manager at Zyxel, commented: "The rapid growth in adoption of mobile devices and RF technologies creates a noisy RF environment which adversely affects the performance of Wi-Fi networks.
"This reduces productivity and causes a negative customer experience. Our new APs integrate advanced technologies such as second-generation MU-MIMO and 3G/4G cellular filter to enable them to coexist in RF-dense environments and deliver maximum performance to the end users.”
Zyxel describes the NWA1123-AC HD as "a robust, standalone access point" that can be easily deployed into an existing network and managed using the Zyxel One Network Utility.
The NWA5123-AC HD, meanwhile, can form part of a robust controller-based WLAN solution with centralised management if it is deployed with a Wireless LAN Controller.
Alternatively, it can be deployed as fully-functional standalone access point. Zyxel has also pointed out that its "innovative" APFlex Technology automatically puts the NWA5123-AC HD into managed mode if a Zyxel wireless controller is found on the network.
This, it stated, takes away the need to configure the AP for use in standalone or controller mode manually.
Notable features of these new additions to the Zyxel portfolio include Second Generation MU-MIMO, which enables the AP to communicate with multiple clients at the same time.
This can provide up to 300 per cent better performance than typical 3x3 access points.
Second-generation transmit beamforming technology can boost data rates for both MU-MIMO clients and those still using legacy technologies.
Zyxel also believes that its low-noise elements, high-efficiency antennas and premium power amplifiers deliver a better wireless performance than other Wave 2 access points.
Another advantage of the technology is that it is designed to coexist with 3G and 4G cellular networks.
Built-in 3G/4G interference filters are capable of minimising interference from 3G and 4G antennas or signal boosters to tackle performance degradation.
The two new Wave 2 access points have also been designed to deliver top performance even in extreme environments.
Indeed, the NWA5123-AC HD includes ThermoSense Adjustment Technology, which intelligently monitors the temperature threshold and makes adjustments to operating parameters accordingly.
As a result, it is capable of operating in temperatures of up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and able to perform strongly and continuously in extreme environments such as factory floors and warehouses.
